Welcome to JoyRide! We know that trying a new fitness method can be intimidating, but have no fear, Team JoyRide is here to support you every step of the way! Below is helpful information to get you ready for your first (of many) classes.

 

+ How do I reserve a class?

In order to place a reservation, you must first buy a class or class package. To do so, simply sign up for an account and create a username and password. Once that's done, click “login” and make your purchase! You may also purchase classes at our studios. JoyRide accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or cash. Expiration dates and prices for single classes and class packages are subject to change.

+ Do I have to be a member of JoyRide to take a class?

Nope! You pay as you go. You can purchase individual classes online or at the studio, or for a discounted rate; packages of 5, 10, or 20 are available. We also offer several unlimited packages for JoyRiders who wish to commit monthly. You manage your own account online, can reserve for the week ahead (new schedule posts on Sundays at 8 a.m.), and select your individual bike or spot.

+ Should I arrive to the studio early?

Yes! For your first class please arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can show you around the studio, set you up and introduce you to the instructor. For every other class, please arrive at least 10 minutes early to make sure class starts on time and you're not lost in the dark. Also, please note that if it's a sold-out class, you must be checked-in at the official start of class. If the class is NOT sold-out, there will a 5-minute grace period. After 5-minutes, you will not be allowed to enter the studio. This is both for your safety (it's dark in there after the warm-up during a cycle class!) and the enjoyment and focus of other JoyRiders. In cycle, we also encourage you to stay during arm work. Even if you don't participate, it disrupts the experience for other riders when you leave early.

+ What should I wear? Do I need special shoes?

We recommend wearing a tank top or t-shirt and comfortable leggings or shorts. If you are new to cycling, it's fine to wear sneakers as most of our bikes have clips for cycling shoes on one side of the pedal and a cage for sneakers on the other side. Just make sure to book a bike that is not “clip-only” as noted on the reserve page. Once you become addicted to JoyRide, we recommend cycling shoes with SPD clips for a smoother and more efficient ride. If you have LOOK pedal clips, we have a few bikes that can accomodate them. Cycling shoes are also available for loan or purchase at the studio.

+ Do I have to bring anything with me?

Yes, a JOYful, positive attitude! In addition, it's a good idea to bring a water bottle. Hydration is key! We have a water cooler in every studio, and we sell bottled water. We provide towels to mop the sweat. And trust us: You'll need one (or three!).

+ What is the cancellation policy?

To receive a class credit for a canceled reservation, you must cancel your class by 6 p.m. the night before your scheduled class. Once you cancel a class, it is returned to your account to be used at a future date. Classes not canceled by 6 p.m. the night before your scheduled class will be charged the normal class fee and no refunds or credits will be issued. Special event registrations can be canceled, but you will not receive a credit to take another class or special event once canceled. For ALL unlimited package holders (Student and Teacher Semester Series, Single Studio Monthly, JoyChampion and JoyChampion Plus), you will be charged a $25 fee for all classes not canceled by 6 p.m. the night before.

+ How does the waitlist work?

If the class you want to attend is sold-out, please put yourself on the waitlist! If there are cancellations up until two hours before your desired class, you will be automatically added to the class. If a bike becomes available within two hours of the class start time, we will NOT automatically enroll you. We will call all waitlisted riders and will only enroll them if they confirm. Within the two hour window, it is a first-come, first-served policy. Whomever we speak to first, gets the spot / bike. Also, if we have walk-ins on the day of the class, they will get priority. Your best bet is to just SHOW UP! There are usually last minute no-shows. If you do not get in off the waitlist, your class credit will be returned to your account to be used at another time. There are no cash refunds issued.

+ If I miss my class, can I take another class within the same day and not be charged?

If you call JoyRide to cancel your class 30 minutes prior to the start of the class, we will allow you to take another class within the same day for no charge! However, if you are a 'no show' or if it is within 30 minutes of the start time, you will lose the class for which you were signed up.

+ What is the return policy?

Series Returns: All series sales are final. No refunds for cash or credit will be provided after the purchase of a series. If you choose not to continue your JoyRide series, you are not eligible for a refund. If you feel you will not be able to complete a package, you may want to choose one of the smaller packages. Unlimited Membership Returns: Sales of Unlimited Memberships are final, except as provided in the terms of any Unlimited Membership Contract. Merchandise Returns: All merchandise sales are final. Refunds for merchandise will only be provided in the form of a store credit or exchange. No refunds for cash.

+ What happens if my package expires? Can I extend my package?

Our package extension policy allows for a 30-day extension for a $25 fee. If you need to extend your package due to a medical reason, we can happily accommodate you! Please note, for medical extensions, a doctor's note is required.

+ What is JoyX?

JOYX is where the cross-training magic happens! In addition to our famous cycling classes, in most of our locations, we offer a variety of strength and resistance training to help you meet all of your fitness goals in one place. In Westport, we have two rooms for JoyX (upstairs and downstairs). Classes include: JoyAthlete, JoySculpt, JoyBox, and high-intensity interval training. You can use your class packs for ALL of these classes too!

+ What other classes does JoyRide offer?

In addition to cycling and JoyX strength and resistance classes, we also offer mat Pilates, JoyBosuPilates, and XtendBarre (Westport only) to improve your core strength, stability and to help elongate your muscles.

+ Does JoyRide have showers and childcare?

Yes, we have showers in all of our locations! At this time, we do not offer childcare.

+ I have taken a few indoor cycling classes, but found the bike too uncomfortable to enjoy the benefits. Maybe it's not for me?

Okay, we hear this sometimes and we don’t want you to give up so easily! For some riders who are new to indoor cycling, the seat and positioning on the bike takes getting used to. With a few classes under your belt, with proper form while riding, and with appropriate resistance on the flywheel, you will adjust in no time – and get hooked (we guarantee)! We also offer padded seats, should you wish to try that. Simply ask the front desk!

+ What is the minimum age and height requirement to take a class at JoyRide?

Riders must be 13 years of age and a minimum height of 4'11" to take a class at JoyRide. In addition, all minors under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian on file prior to taking a class. You can print and sign the waiver in advance directly from the web site. Otherwise, please arrive at the studio 15 minutes prior to your first class to allow time to execute the waiver and get properly set-up on your bike.

+ What is the difference between a gift card and a class series?

In addition to classes and series of classes, you can also buy a gift certificate. JoyRide's gift certificates are sold in the form of "gift cards". Gift cards never expire and the person that you are giving them to can use his or her gift card(s) to buy classes or any kind of merchandise. Once a class is purchased using a gift card, it will expire, just like any other class you buy. Gift cards and classes are not the same thing. Unlike gift cards or gift certificates, classes are for our rides or studio classes only. You cannot redeem your class for cash and you cannot transfer it to another customer. Classes do expire. The expiration dates are posted in the purchase page on the website. If, however, you cannot book a ride in time, just give us a call, stop by the studio, or email us and we can help you.

+ What is JoyRide's policy on inclement weather and snow days/delayed openings?

We will very rarely cancel classes or close the studio. But if we must, we will try and give you as much notice as possible! Starting the night before, please check the website schedule, as well as Facebook and Instagram for studio closing updates.
