Xtend + JoyRide Instructor Profile: Blythe Hill
As we get closer to the launch of our NEW Xtend Barre classes at JoyWestport next week, we are excited to introduce you to our wonderful instructors (some familiar faces!) in a series of profiles.
If you haven’t already seen Blythe Hill riding with power and enthusiasm in our indoor cycling classes, perfecting her Pilates form in Studio 2, or her knockout punches upstairs at JoyX, here’s a chance to get to know a little bit more about her! We are thrilled to have Blythe as a part of Joy's Xtend Barre team.
Where you live?
I live in Westport.
Do you have children? (If yes how old?)
I have a daughter, Lucy, who is about to turn 9 and is in 4th grade.
What is your background?
I spent many years studying ballet and performing growing up. That background has been particularly helpful in training to teach Xtend Barre in terms of understanding form and positions. Ballet requires incredible strength and is so beautiful. I love that Xtend Barre taps into that strength and beauty.
Are you currently/Have you been a JoyRide member?
Yes! I am huge JoyRide fan! You can really have it all here…from punches on the bag to plies at the barre. I love being able to mix it up! It's the best way to stay in shape!
What do you enjoy doing when you aren't working out/teaching at JoyRide?
When I’m not working out, I love going for walks at the beach. Sounds cliché but it’s true! I find being at the water to be so peaceful. It can help put things in perspective when life gets crazy.
What's your favorite indulgence?
My favorite indulgence is cake…good old-fashioned birthday cake.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is pasta.
What’s your favorite book? (Or a recent favorite!)
I love to read, so picking a favorite book is too hard! One I recently read and loved was The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.
Summer or Winter?
I lived in London two times in my life. I went to preschool and high school there.
