Valentine's Month 🧡Faces of Joy III: The Angerames of Wilton
Next up in our Faces of Joy Couples Spotlights: Jen and Brian Angerame of Wilton! This fun couple keeps it light by sharing their sense of humor here and in the studio. Jen, the owner of Wilton’s Southern Yankee, is from Dallas and her husband is from Long Island — henceforth the name of her business! Although they don’t always ride together, they find ways to motivate each other, and never miss an opportunity to show their JoySpirit (particularly in this interview)!
What initially brought you to JoyRide (i.e. was one of you riding here first and brought the other?)
Jen: I rode first and told Brian he should try it because I really thought it would be great!
Brian: It’s all Jennifer’s fault!!!! She started it!
Which classes do you usually attend?
Jen: Brian does the 5:30 a.m.s and Saturday mornings. I am more of an 8:45 kind of a girl.
Brian: I am an Anne Stauff disciple! :)
How do you motivate each other / how does riding together affect you?
Jen: HE motivates ME for the 5:30 a.m. classes and bribes me with coffee…
Brian: Anne Stauff yelling at us is all the motivation we need.
How did you first meet?
Jen: He was in Dallas for the engagement party of a mutual friend.
How long have you lived in Wilton?
15 years! We came here because of the schools — and it is a great place to raise kids.
Has exercise always been a part of your lives?
Jen: Never... this has been the first thing I actually enjoy!
Brian: My doctors advised me that contact sports are bad for my health. So, I have resorted to playing golf and spin.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourselves that could help/ inspire others looking to get fitter/healthier?
Jen: We are definitely not the only couple that spins together – there are a lot of us (i.e. the Lancasters and the Edwards) especially on Saturdays.
Supporting riders’ causes and charitable organizations is of the utmost importance to the JoyRide community, and a vital part of our mission. Is there a cause or organization about which you are passionate?
Jen: There are many of us from St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church who ride! We are also big fans of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as well as the Catch a Lift Fund, which enables wounded veterans to rehabilitate both physically and mentally through physical fitness, motivation and support.
Most fun ride or class at Joy?
Jen: LOVE the live band classes.
Brian: I agree on the live band classes. I also miss taking Anne’s doubles on Saturdays!
Most wacky costume/dressup opportunity in which you have partaken (if applicable!)
Jen: As you can see, we dressed up for a heavy metal class (see photo with instructor Anne in the middle!).
Brian: I wore a Jets jersey on Super Bowl weekend – that’s pretty wacky because the Jets haven’t been to a Super Bowl in 50 years!
