Welcome to JoyRide! Thank you for signing up for a class. We know that trying a new fitness method can be intimidating, but have no fear, Team JoyRide is here to support you every step of the way!
Here is some helpful information to get your ready for your first (of many) JoyRides!
How to I reserve a class?
In order to place a reservation, you must first buy a class or class package. To do so, simply sign up for an account and create a username and password. Once that's done, click “login” and make your purchase! You may also purchase classes at our studios. JoyRide accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and cash. Expiration dates and prices for single classes and class packages are subject to change.
Do I have to be a member of JoyRide to take a class?
Nope! You pay as you ride. You can purchase individual classes online or at the studio, or for a discounted rate; packages of 10, 20 or 50 are available. We also offer several unlimited packages for riders who wish to commit monthly or yearly. Riders manage their own accounts online, can reserve for the week ahead (new schedule posts on Sundays at 12 noon), and can select their individual bike.
Should I arrive to the studio early?
Yes! For your first ride, please arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can show you around the studio, set you up on your bike and introduce you to the instructor. For every other ride, please arrive at least 10 minutes early to make sure class starts on time and you're not lost in the dark. Also, please note that if it's a sold-out class, you must be checked-in and on your bike at the official start of class. If the class is NOT sold-out, there will a 5-minute grace period. After 5-minutes, you will not be allowed to enter the studio. This is both for your safety (it's dark in there after the warm-up!) and the enjoyment and focus of other riders. We also encourage you to stay during arm work. Even if you don't participate, it disrupts the experience for other riders when you leave.
What should I wear? Do I need special shoes?
We recommend wearing a tank top or t-shirt and comfortable leggings or shorts. If you are new to cycling, it's fine to wear sneakers as most of our bikes have clips for cycling shoes on one side of the pedal and a cage for sneakers on the other side. Just make sure to book a bike that only has clips (as noted on the Reserve page). Once you become addicted to JoyRide, we recommend cycling shoes with SPD clips for a smoother and more efficient ride. If you have LOOK pedal clips, we have a few bikes that can accomodate. Cycling shoes are available for purchase at the studio.
Do I have to bring anything with me?
Yes, a JOYful, postitive attitude! In addition, it's a good idea to bring a water bottle. Hydration is key! We have a water cooler in every studio, and we sell bottled water. We provide towels to mop the sweat. And trust us: You'll need one (or three!).
What is the cancellation policy?
To receive a class credit for a canceled reservation, you must cancel your class by 6 p.m. the night before your scheduled class. Once you cancel a class, it is returned to your account to be used at a future date. Classes not canceled by 6 p.m. the night before your scheduled class will be charged the normal class fee and no refunds or credits will be issued. Special event registrations can be canceled, but you will not be receive a credit to take another class or special event once canceled. We have a three strike policy for Monthly and Yearly Unlimited package holders. If you miss more than three classes without cancelling by 6 p.m. the night before your scheduled class, you will be charged a $25 missed class fee. This fee will be charged for each subsequent missed class that is not cancelled in the appropriate time frame.
How does the waitlist work?
We know the feeling...the class you want is FULL. But have no fear, our waitlist works!
If the class you want to attend is sold-out, please put yourself on the waitlist! If there are cancellations before 11:59 p.m. the night before class, you will be automatically added to the class. If a bike becomes available on the day of the class, we will NOT automatically enroll you. We will call all waitlisted riders and will only enroll them if they confirm. On the day of the class, it is a first-come, first-served policy. Whomever we speak to first, gets the bike. Also, if we have walk-ins on the day of the class, they will get priority. Your best bet is to just SHOW UP! There are usually last minute no-shows. If you do not get in off the waitlist, your class credit will be returned to your account to be used at another time. There are no refunds issued.
Remember, before you can put yourself on the waitlist, you have to purchase a class (or have a class in your account). Also, the waitlist works the same as a regular class reservation. If you do not remove yourself from the waitlist by 6 p.m. the night before the class, you many be added to the class after the cancellation period has expired.
If you are scheduled for one class and then receive a bike from the waitlist for another class, you will be charged for both reservations.
If I miss my class, can I take another class within the same day and not be charged?
If you call JoyRide to cancel your class 30 minutes prior to the start of the class, we will allow you to take another class within the same day for no charge! However, if you are a 'no show' or if it is within 30 minutes of the start time, you will lose the class you were signed up for.
What is the return policy?
Series Returns: All series sales are final, no refunds for cash or credit will be provided after the purchase of a series. If you choose not to continue your JoyRide series, you are not eligible for a refund. If you feel you will not be able to complete a package, you may want to choose one of the smaller packages. Unlimited Membership Returns: Sales of Unlimited Memberships are final, except as provided in the terms of any Unlimited Membership Contract. Merchandise Returns: All merchandise sales are final. Refunds for merchandise will only be provided in the form of a store credit or exchange in the case of a fault. No refunds for cash.
What is Studio 2?
Studio 2 is where the cross-training magic happens! In addition to our famous cycling classes, in our Westport and Darien locations, we offer a variety of strength and resistance training to help you meet your fitness goals all in one place. Classes include: Circuit, sculpt, mat Pilates, BOSU®, TRX®, Pound®, high-intensity interval training, mobility, and groove. You can use your class packs for ALL of these classes too!
I have taken a few indoor cycling classes, but found the bike too uncomfortable to enjoy the benefits. Maybe it’s not for me?
Okay, we hear this sometimes and we don’t want you giving up so easily! For some riders new to indoor cycling, the seat and positioning on the bike takes getting used to. With a few classes under your belt, with proper form while riding, and with appropriate resistance on the flywheel, you will adjust in no time – and get hooked (we guarantee)!
Does JoyRide have showers and childcare?
Yes, we have showers in all of our locations! In addtion, several of our locations childcare. Please check the individual studio location's FAQ page for more information.
What is the minimum age and height requirement to take a class a JoyRide?
Riders must be 13 years of age and a minimum height of 4'11" to take a class at JoyRide. In addition, all minors under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian on file prior to taking a class. You can print and sign the waiver in advance directly from of web site. Otherwise, please arrive at the studio 15 minutes prior to your first class to allow time to execute the waiver and get properly set-up on your bike.
What is JoyRide's policy on inclement weather and snow days/delayed openings?
We will very rarely cancel classes or close the studio, but if we must, we will try and give you as much notice as possible! Starting the night before, please check the web site schedule, as well as Facebook and Twitter, for studio closing updates.
What happens if my package expires? Can I extend my package?
Our package extension policy allows for a 30-day extension for a $25 fee. If you need to extend your package due to a medical reason, we can happily accommdate you! Please note for medical extensions, a doctors note is required.
