With the launch of JoyX, what are you most looking forward to?
Injecting "X"ers with confidence, helping people reach personal goals and getting them to places they have never been physically and mentally!
What advice do you have to someone in a fitness rut?
I tell people to get out of their comfort zone and stay there. The more room for improvement, the larger the gains!
What is your personal training style?
I LOVE HEAVY WEIGHTS, but they are not right for everyone so I take a “let's get you out of pain and moving well" approach, then sprinkle in work capacity.
How would your clients describe you?
Witty, I like to think I’m funny, and INCREDIBLY confident that they can do something difficult even if they think they can’t. I take no prisoners.
How would your friends describe you?
Again, I like to think I’m funny, but they see me as dedicated to my line of work, a football fanatic, and a beer snob.
What is the best part of being a trainer?
Easy — wearing athletic clothes and sneakers for work. Oh, and seeing people transform before my eyes, getting to know that I could help change them for the better!
If you could work out with one athlete/sports icon, who would it be and why? What type of workout would you do?
I’d like to arm wrestle James Harrison (linebacker for the Steelers), just to say I did. And then have him school me in the heavy weights department.
Have you had to overcome any physical challenges?
Many, mostly relating to injuries. Challenge keeps me humble and hungry for more answers to questions and ways to solve problems.
What qualities do you most admire in other people?
I admire people's mental grit and tenacity. Also their blind faith in me that I know what I'm doing.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
A wise person once told me: "How you do anything is how you do everything.” Between that and listening to everyone who told me to marry my now fiancé!
Do you have a favorite song lyric?
Is there a right answer to this besides "Don't stop believing" or "Never gonna give you up"?
What is your guilty pleasure?
BACON, and I totally don't feel guilty about it.
