How would your friends describe you?
Loyal, trustworthy, durable, generous, passionate, sweet and hilarious! (To make sure of the accuracy of this answer, I enlisted the services of two of my oldest and dearest besties!)
How would your kids describe you?
Best friend, defender of the faith and an over-charged Energizer bunny! Oh, and maybe a bit annoying regarding school work. (“I yell because I care!”) Actually, after writing this, I asked them directly and this is what they said: "Passionate, caring, powerful, works very hard, crazy Energizer bunny, loud.” I had it pretty close!
What’s the last movie you laughed the hardest through?
Blazing Saddles. This past summer with my husband, my two sons, one of my best friends (see question 1) and his sons. Hard to say what was more funny/fun: the movie or the boys laughing!
If your life were a song, what would the title be?
While not a Beatles fan, probably the title that best suits my life would be, "The Long and Winding Road.” Embrace the journey, every skip in your step and every pebble in your shoe!
What can’t you live without?
Genuine love and my friends
What’s your favorite song from high school or college?
Hard to pick just one but here are two top choices:
High School: “Secret Journey” by The Police
College: “Romeo and Juliet” by Dire Straits.
What do they remind you of?
Both have powerful lyrics that speak to the journey and search for love and meaning in life and how it can be messy. There is comfort in the power of embracing that the path can be messy and is not always clear, but that at the end, if you look hard enough, the genuine feelings lead to deep and meaningful relationships of all kinds. To wit, this is one of my favorite quotes: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a Ride!’”
What would someone be surprised to know about you?
My middle name is the name of a Star in the constellation Taurus. It is the fifth brightest star in the sky. My father used it to navigate while at sea. I gaze at it often at the appropriate times of the year. I think it is really cool. The name is Aldebaran. Also, one summer I worked as a private investigator and I almost joined the FBI!
